Harness

The harness configuration should have a V-neck design to allow the dog to lower their head and neck without interference.

The harness should not impair the movement of the front legs or shoulders.

The line attachment should be on the dog's back.

Long line

The line should be 50-90 feet long.

Lightweight and easy to manage.

Waterproof or similar.

Leash and collar

A regular flat collar and a six-foot leash.

No prongs or slip/choke collars.  No head halters.  Nothing aversive.

Highly motivating reinforcers

Something the dog only gets when Mantrailing.

Moist food is best.  Something they can lick while consuming.  Licking releases endorphins.  Small jars of baby food are an option.

Two small food pots to hold the food: plastic or glass sealable containers. (These are given to the Trail Layer.)

The reinforcer can be a tug toy that highly motivates the dog.
